Run for God

On February 10, 2013, we launched a new life school class at Christ Community Church. Run for God is a 10-12 week training plan aimed at running a 5k while maintaining a Christian focus. The primary goal is to prepare people to be better witnesses for Christ – Physically, Mentally, and Spiritually.

Run for God has transformed my life. God is using this program to shape, mold, and develop me! Here's how it all started:

Last fall, I visited my best friend, Jullian, for a nice weekend getaway at Panama City Beach. It was great! She even took me to a group boot camp class which was HARD! I always talk about running, so it didn't surprise me that the topic came up. She mentioned a 5k training program that was going on at her church. I had to find out more!

Once I was back home I started searching the Internet and "ran across" the Run for God website. The running part sounded awesome! I love sharing my love of running with others. The bible study part - terrified me. How was I equipped to run a bible study?? Did God not remember my past? I'm by no means a model bible study instructor!

But I just couldn't get this program out of my head. I knew God was calling me to do this, and I was not about to disobey his call for me. So after weeks of research, I finally contacted the church about leading the program.

Christ Community Church is awesome. The staff is so supportive. After an initial review and meeting, I was given the green light to plan for Run for God as a life school class.

Registration began in January, and I thought if we got 15 or 20 people, I would be ecstatic. At the first class on February 10th, we had 65 people. I thank God daily for each and every individual. I pray for each person and no matter if we had 1 or 100, God is moving through this class and I can't wait to see what the rest of the course holds!

Check out my friend Sharita's blog where I had the opportunity to guest blog about our first class! Below you will find the recaps from each week of the study.
